These days you’ll want to make use of every penny (or every cent of your Euro) to make sure you get the best deal you can.
By clever searching and use of the web you could soon be booking a holiday to Larnaca in Cyprus, Gran Canaria in the Atlantic or Mallorca in the Ballearics and looking forward to sun-filled days and exciting nights as part of your holiday for 2009. Indeed, you might find that your money goes so far that you could find yourself booking more cheap holidays later on in the year!
Despite the downturn in the economy, airlines are benefiting from a lower oil price in the last couple of months, and they are also coming to the realisation that they have to compete hard to get customers. It’s really a buyer’s market in the holiday arena, so shop around to make sure you bag yourself a bargain.
Of course, prices do vary and the further afield you go the more you are likely to have to pay for your visit, but considering the state of the economy there are sill plenty of cheap holidays about. Get yourself booked and then you can dream of your forthcoming break, and getting away from the doom and gloom to somewhere much more enticing!

Fantastic cure for candida
read comments (6)Green Holidays: Having (responsible) Fun in the Sun
Author: admin
Our yearly trip abroad is under threat, threat from the groups of people who tell us we shouldn’t be flying in aeroplanes and that we’re damaging the environment. This argument is essentially true, planes do cough up a lot of exhaust fumes but it remains the most convenient method of long distance transport, unless you plan to spend a few weeks at sea on a freighter.
With recycling and other green initiatives being drummed into our conscience it is understandable that many of us are now thinking about what we’re doing to the planet and how we can help alleviate some of the stresses being put upon the environment. The thing is that unbeknown to many tourists is that there are many ways in which you can look after the planet but also have your week in the sun feeling guilt-free.
In t5he past travel companies have been accused of not providing information on the true cost of holidays and not been forthcoming with social and climate responsibilities. 80% of people surveyed about holidays said they felt they were not provided with enough information on the environmental costs to make an informed choice.
One popular UK holiday destination is the only one to excel with regards to environmental issues, and that is CenterParcs with it’s setting within a woodland area as opposed to razing the land and dropping a massive concrete jungle resort. One other way holidays were being made greener was carbon offsetting of flight emissions, a company would calculate the amount of carbon dioxide given off by your flight and would plant trees in order to hopefully absorb some of the CO2 caused by your trip.
The problem here is that with the financial problems going on that many people who have or planned to offset their carbon emissions are no longer able to as it’s an avoidable expense when they’re looking to get the best deal on cheap holidays this year.
It’s unfortunate as many holidaymakers are interested and would like to know the cost of their holidays not only to the environment but also the economy but with prices of flights creeping up due to fuel surcharges then many people booking their package holidays feel they need to save money for when actually away on their holiday.
There are certain hotels in the UK and abroad which utilise new green technology to help set the visitor’s mind at ease, hotels with solar panels in perennially sunny climates like Spain and Turkey can cut back on the electricity used, some accommodation utilises natural materials such as log cabins which are surprisingly modern despite their rustic appearances.
For now it seems that if holidaymakers want to be green then it costs extra, and at the moment everyone’s looking for the cheaper deal. Until flights companies are pressured into covering the costs of carbon offsetting or it becomes an included service then many tourists are going to remain unaware of the damage they are doing. As a result of recent surveys it is hoped that more travel companies present the information on environmental effects and that tourists get all the necessary information on a factor that is increasing in importance.

Cyprus Holidays the Perfect Destination
Author: admin
Cyprus holidays are the best holidays in the world. Then again I am bound to say that because we (Julie and myself) have fallen in love with this beautiful Mediterranean Island. Every since our first holiday there in 1996 we have been well and truly hooked on Cyprus holidays. So much in fact that we have bought a Cyprus holiday home of our own which we share with our family and friends. I could wax lyrical for hours (and probably will) about the virtues of Cyprus holidays.
Situated close to Turkey and Egypt Cyprus has a beautiful climate boasting over 320 days of sunshine every year. The beautiful clear blue Mediterranean Ocean stays warm right through till the end of November and the short Cyprus winter only last from around the end of December until around the end of March. That’s when it rains and boy does it rain! The Cyprus landscape is dry and barren for 10 months of the year then wham! all the rain in one go so to to speak. The reservoirs get topped up and the ground soaks up all that life giving water. When it rains in Cyprus you could be forgiven for thinking that you are in Venice. The roads become rivers and vast tracts of low laying land become lakes.
But hey! we don’t take our Cyprus holidays for the rain we take them for all that glorious Mediterranean sunshine and there is always plenty of that from March right up to the end of November. Even in December you can go for walks on the beach in shorts and tee shirt although the evenings are cooler. Like I said the sea stays warm well into the year and in fact bathing in the sea is probably warmer in October than swimming in the pools. The reason for this is that the sun heats the sea throughout the long hot summer and it takes a long time to cool down again.
There are some fantastic holiday resorts in Cyprus and they are all easily accessible from one of the Islands airports at either Paphos or Larnaca. There is a modern coastal motorway linking all the main resorts and towns so getting around is a cinch. The Cypriots drive on the left same as the U.K. which is a throwback to the days of British rule that ended in the 1960s. The road signs too are in both Greek and English another legacy of the English occupation of the Island. In fact some people love Cyprus so much that they retire there. They say that Cyprus is like England with the sun but without the rip off taxes.
I won’t go on about the cheap cost of living in Cyprus apart from saying that it makes me question what the British government is actually spending all my taxes on. With so much to do and see in Cyprus you will be coming back year after year (like we do) to get round to seeing everything. You will never tire of this beautiful Mediterranean paradise with it’s friendly people and warm sunny climate. Who knows you may even come to love the place as much as we do and buy yourself a beautiful Cyprus holiday villa or apartment.

Package Holidays: Less of Them and at a Higher Price Too
Author: admin
Going on holiday is a tradition in the average UK citizen’s year where we get to jet away from working in the office for a week or two in the sun. Millions of Britons travel to Spain, Greece and other more far-flung destinations to get away from the hassles of working life and to enjoy themselves.
This tradition used to be a luxury back thirty years ago but as we moved on to the nineties and early 2000’s many new cheap flight companies and tour operators spread like wild fire, high streets and web pages touted flights to European destinations for ridiculously low prices and whilst many of these sensationalist deals were subject to taxes and other additional costs the price of flying was clearly lower than it ever was and more and more of us jetted away.
The past year though has seemingly popped this cheap holidays bubble and sent many of us crashing down to earth with prices rising due to airline running costs (specifically fuel costs) and the financial situation in general making holidays seem more and more expensive by the week.
Many UK holiday makers are now finding that extra charges and the shrinking market of cheap flights companies is making us rethink that extra holiday next year, and in some cases any kind of trip abroad all together. Two of Britain’s biggest tour operators have stated that they are looking to cut down on package holidays over the next two years too.
The two holiday giants have said that due to the amount of holidays being booked dropping that they are having to cut back and push up prices on package holidays. This seems to be the norm for the travel industry in general at the moment. Where in the past many companies had offered lots of cheap holidays they are now concentrating on profit margins and this means less holidays and at a higher price to boot.
It is easier for larger holiday firms to do this due to many of them buying out smaller competitors or the competitors simply folding under the financial pressure. Whilst this price hike is a bit of a problem for holidaymakers many are beginning to take the old fashioned mentality where a holiday is a luxury and not something you can do two or three times a year realistically.
With many people going for cheaper all inclusive holidays and locations closer to home it hasn’t become completely impossible to nab a decent deal on a holiday but as with almost everything over the next year or two we are going to find holidays costing more and the extra money we had set aside being spent on other necessities before splashing out any time soon.

Winter Sun Flights From the UK
Author: admin
With the recent cold spell lasting what seemed several weeks, many residents in the UK would have been looking at the daily temperatures and yearning for something warmer. The early weeks of January are usually the busiest time of the year for holiday bookings. With the festive season now over, thoughts turn to holidays and the volume of travel advertising trying to attract our attention increases to new levels.
For many who take just one holiday every year, decisions will be made about where to spend the main summer break, but for those lucky enough to afford the time and cost of more than one holiday, an additional winter sun break will provide an attractive change from the freezing weather we have experienced in the UK recently. There are many alternative destinations providing warmer climates than the UK and to show the options available I’ll look at three resorts than are located just a two hour flight, a four hour flight and a six hour flight from the UK.
For someone wishing to fly for just two hours then the Balearic Islands of Spain provide the nearest location for a warmer winter break. Daytime temperatures can reach 15 degrees Celsius in January and February which is very mild in comparison to UK temperatures at that time of year. Not exactly hot but certainly more pleasant than staying at home and the traveller has the choice of Majorca, Menorca and Ibiza a destination. While heat may not be guaranteed, sunshine almost certainly is, as Majorca typically records over 300 days of sunshine every year. Rain is also unlikely to be a problem with islands like Majorca receiving the heaviest falls between September and November.
Stay on a flight for a little longer and four hours travel will allow someone to reach the Canaries, a group of islands belonging to Spain yet situated just 100 kilometers off the North African coast. Here average daytime temperatures in February are a warm 19 degrees Celsius and holidaymakers can expect an average of 7 hours sunshine every day. Not only will the weather prove pleasant, but the resorts of the Canaries are used to winter travelers and have far more going on than those of the Balearics. The reason for these warm conditions result from the Islands’ location – Tenerife is on the same latitude as Florida – and also the mountainous areas of islands like Tenerife which prevent the moist Trade Winds from reaching southern parts of the island.
A four hour flight will also take the UK traveler to the Mediterranean island, where 6 hours sunshine per day will await along with average daytime temperatures in January and February of 12 degrees Celsius. Cyprus is experiencing a resurgence of popularity with resorts such as Paphos and Larnaca attracting many visitors. The Larnaca – Dhekelia Bay boasts one of the longest beaches in Europe and has received blue flag awards for cleanliness. The airport at Larnaca is only 9 kilometers from the resorts however over-sea flight paths reduce aircraft noise to a minimum.
Finally the more determined winter sun seeker may opt for a six hour flight and venture as far as the The Gambia, which although situated on the west coast of Africa is on the same time zone as he UK . Here the average daytime temperature during December to February is a very pleasant 24 degrees Celsius and rain is highly unlikely. Gambia has a very pronounced rainy season between July and September. Outside of these months the country experiences a long dry season which makes it particularly attractive to UK winter holidaymakers. The small city of Banjul is the capital and is also home to the airport which brings in flights from numerous northern European countries. Tourism is important to the country and recent investment has seen dramatic improvements to the airport and surrounding road infrastructure. If sitting in the sun on a beach by the sea in January is what you desire, then Gambia could well be your ideal destination.

Late Holiday Deals Can Result In Huge Savings!
Author: admin
There are 2 basic ways to plan your next holiday and the first way often seems a little unfair due to the costs and time restraints involved.
The organized trip: This is suited mainly for families with young children or those tied to the work desk where they have to give notice of their main annual leave one year in advance. It may sound a little unfair but as we have what are called the ‘peak’ periods, it means that if there were no rules set down, many workplaces would be without staff, particularly during July and August. The downside to pre-booked peak period vacations of course, is that you’re not likely benefit from a late holiday deal.
The unorganized trip: Perfect for youths, single folks, and those who can get away from work at a moments notice. When I was living the selfish life of a bachelor, I managed to experience some of the best and most memorable vacations of my life. The buzz from not knowing quite where you might end up, or when, or for how long, is both exciting and adventurous.
Other benefits for unorganized traveling means that your are available for grabbing that late holiday deal, plus the choice to keep away from peak holiday periods where all the popular places are packed beyond belief and overcharge for everything. So, the late holiday deal does not only gives you great discounts at the drop of a hat, but if you time it right, it’s cheaper once you get there too, so the potential savings are huge depending where you go and for how long.
Most folks though, begin to plan their summer holidays in the midst of winter, and their winter vacations mid summer. If you really want to secure a particular place at a specific time, then panning ahead is a necessary evil. In 1997, I took the same holiday package as my sister to Thailand and it cost me half as much. I got to go during the Thai winter too (December/January) which guaranteed cloudless skies, warm sunshine, and almost zero humidity.
But late holiday deals can still be had by many taking the mini breaks which are perhaps not as regimented as their main summer vacation. As most of you are aware, many airlines offer cheaper tickets the earlier you book, but if you’re traveling off season, you can gamble and find much reduced fares just days before you are due to depart. Another late holiday deal trick, is to do as much of the arranging yourself as possible. Now, many folks don’t need the hassle, but if you’re looking to save a few bucks it really is worth the extra effort. I always call a couple of hotels direct and ask if they have any promotions going on. I’ve been real lucky with this simple tactic.
Actually, you might think it’s a little cheeky or underhanded but I will get a brochure from a travel agency, and pick out a trip which interests me. I’ll then break it down into transportation to and from airports, flights, accommodation, and insurance. I don’t worry about excursions because they can be had for a song on arrival should I want them. I then do a little online pricing to see what savings can be had. Sometimes, the package deals are very well put together by the agents, and therefore hard to beat, but quite often, you can make your own late holiday deal at a great saving.
But don’t rule out the travel agents altogether. There are a few in my town that have my personal contact details, and we have an arrangement where they call me whenever there is a late holiday deal available due to a last minute cancellation, or special promotion. There’s no obligation and it’s nice to be informed.
The best place to get practice with arranging your own late holiday deals is on the internet. Save a few of your favored airlines, hotels, and destinations to your favorite’s folders and have yourself a little check list handy so that you can tot up as you go along. It’s quite good fun as an exercise even if you have to immediate plans to go anywhere. Bon voyage!

Traveling Around The World For Pennies On The Dollar
Author: admin
These days everyone is looking for a deal when planning a vacation. With the cost of going on holidays these days who can blame them. Some resorts can often cost up to $300 or $400 per night, and that is if you can even get a reservation. Many of the best resorts are sold out a half year in advance. Others keep their best rooms and suites exclusively for timeshare holders or owners.
So what does that mean for the average traveler? Generally they are restricted to the all inclusive package deals that keep them two to a room in a modest hotel. There is nothing wrong with that. For many travelers this is all they need. However, for a family of four or more this style of accommodation is just not enough. Often families are forced to book two rooms; one for the kids and another for the parents.
This type of vacation accommodation often leaves families separated for a large portion of their vacation. There is a planned activity for a portion of the day followed by the teenagers going off to pursue their own activities and retiring to their own room.
Often a family that wants to lodge together has to rent a condo or a suite with two bedrooms. This is expensive with a week rental often costing a couple thousand dollars.
There is another benefit to renting a condo and that is having access to a kitchen. Let’s face it, the cost of eating out while on holidays can be a lot. This can lessen that cost burden and give a chance for a family on holidays to sit together outside of a restaurant setting. After all that is the point of the holiday in the first place; to enjoy time together.
One option for a family that travels annually is to buy into a timeshare. This will allow them to spend time together, enjoy meals together and re-establish family bonds. Although the cost of a time share is generally out of reach for many families and if you choose not to travel one year you still end up paying the fees. Plus who wants to continually visit the same resort year after year.
A new and less expensive option is to buy a vacation membership. This will provide travelers with much more flexibility when choosing holiday destinations. However caution needs to be used when choosing a membership since not all are good value. Many limit the resorts available and times which you can visit. It is important for anyone considering a vacation
membership to do their research and make sure it will suit their travel needs.
There are many options available for a traveler seeking discount rates on their vacation. Time shares, travel vouchers, and hotel deals are all viable options but for those looking to have a lifetime of fantastic vacation deals them there is a specific vacation membership that needs to be considered.

Spanish Holidays Off To Flying Start For 2007
Author: admin
With fresh challenges every year from new and old competitors to take away market share, Spain increased her number of visitors in the first couple of months of 2007 for what could be a good year for a country that has been the favourite destination for Europeans for nearly fifty years.
The visitor numbers were so good that it broke new records for Spain, with 4 per cent more holiday makers in January 2007 compared to 2007, and a total of 2.8 million tourists overall.
The most popular area of Spain was off the mainland, the Canary Islands.
The Canary Islands consist of Tenerife, Fueteventura, Lanzarote and Gran Ganaria. The Canaries enjoy good weather in the winter months due to her geographical location near Africa, and Many British, Dutch and German tourists take villa and hotel holidays for a week November to mid March.
The Costa del Sol, a perennial favourite of the British seeking a winter sunshne break surprisingly saw a near 5 per cent dip in UK visitor numbers, but overall enjoyed a near 6 per cent increase in tourists.
The Balearic Islands recorded a rise in visitors of just over 1 per cent.
The Balearics consist of Menorca (the smallest island), Majorca and Ibiza. The small rise compared to the Canary Islands isn’t too much of a surprise as Menorca has a season that traditionally is at its peak early May to end September, but is now trying to extend that from mid April to mid October.
Majorca
Majorca is hoping to boost visitor numbers this summer by increasing the level of competition at the island’s SuperYacht Cup. As well as drawing extra tourists for the event itself it adds an extra attraction for those holidaymakers already on the island, adding to the possibility of a return visit in future years – and with more destinations to choose from in recent years repeat visitors has become an important strategy in tourist locations.
As part of the Balearic Islands, Mallorca has welcomed many visitors back to live full time on the island. Menorca property has proved popular too, for those looking for a gentler pace of life than big sister Mallorca.
Property prices in Mallorca are similar to Menorca property, with a range of apartments and villas in both rural and town locations, and with twenty golf courses plenty of golf course developments too on Mallorca.
Menorca has just the one golf course, recently extended to eighteen holes, and is located in Son Park, which has a choice of hotels, apartments and villas for holiday makers.
The cost of flying to Mallorca has come down in recent years from most European countries due to low cost airlines, especially in the island’s core tourist areas of the United Kingdom and Germany, and last year easyJet started direct flights from London’s Gatwick Airport to the sister island of Menorca, as well as serving Mallorca itself.
Despite competition from other destinantions, Mallorca looks set to remain a favourite holiday spot for some time to come.
